The KYRIE Interactive Basketball Court
For this event, rapper Soft Lipa and Kyrie were specially invited to co-create the music. Soft Lipa prepared a wide range of rhythm patterns, timbres, and sound samples that carried his distinctive style, all integrated into Ableton Live. Much like a DJ’s instrument, the setup was primed for instant triggering.
On site, Kyrie wore Myo sensors that captured his hand movements and muscle activity in real time. Combined with LiDAR sensors installed in the venue, the system enabled the computer to receive immediate three-dimensional displacement vectors and body information.
Finally, Kyrie’s dynamic movements were translated through this complex real-time sensing technology into Soft Lipa’s signature, emotionally rich rap sound sources. It was as if the half-court space became a MIDI controller, with DJ Kyrie delivering an extraordinary, improvised fusion of visuals and sounds.
