Project ZERO | Episode 1

Project ZERO | Episode 1 is an artistic experiment that transcends the body, culture, and technology. It combines dance, music, and new media art to create a unique immersive experience.

The audience is no longer a passive viewer; they are guided on a journey of "seeking," engaging in a deep conversation with the work through a multi-sensory environment. In this quest where art and technology intertwine, the piece prompts us to reconsider how the body and consciousness can be preserved in the digital age. It explores how innovative forms and technologies can find a new way of existing and leaving an eternal echo, potentially even leading to a new creative beginning.

A reconstruction and fusion of Eastern and Western bodies within the context of AI and technology.

The work uses the legendary late dancer Hsiao Ho Wen as its central inspiration, making her East-meets-West physical vocabulary the heart of the project.

The piece deconstructs and reconstructs the classic, signature elements of her body's language, including the extension of her hand lines, the rhythm of her breathing and footwork, and the energy of her body's turns and freezes. These are then reassembled into a new artistic language. In the future, this language will evolve into new forms and postures through AI generation.

These elements are more than just dance movements; they are a re-presentation of cultural codes, placing Eastern and Western physical characteristics into a new aesthetic context where they will continue to fuse and show tension within a technological framework.

In the expansion of dance, AI motion generation plays a crucial role, becoming a co-creator of the dance vocabulary.

Through motion capture and AI model training (such as motion diffusion), the original human dance is transformed into digital data, which is then used to generate entirely new movement combinations. This "re-interpretation" breaks through the physical limits of the human body, allowing the dance to present a multi-layered "futuristic body."

Here, AI is not merely imitating; it is creating a new perspective and sparking philosophical thought on "digital bodies" and "data immortality." It becomes a new dance vocabulary jointly written by technology and art.

Between Poetry and the Spectrum: A Cultural Reinterpretation of Nanguan and Electronic Music.

The soundscape is the other soul of this work. It features a cross-generational dialogue created by combining Nanguan (Southern Pipe) with electronic music.

The poetic, delicate sounds and deeply historical, Eastern-inspired musical form of Nanguan are juxtaposed with the low frequencies, synthetic waves, and granular soundscapes of electronic music. This collision of sounds creates an unexpected sensory oscillation.

When these two genres intertwine, it is more than just a musical experiment; it is a cultural reinterpretation. It allows a traditional sound to be reborn in a future context, giving it new life, and enabling the audience to feel the flow and regeneration of culture within the immersive sound environment. This constructs a cross-temporal auditory space and a brand-new sensory experience.

Starting from zero, a narrative journey from body to AI algorithms.

Project ZERO | Episode 1 is more than a VR work; it's a multi-layered new media art exploration. Using data as its narrative, the work examines the relationship between the end of life and technological development.

By combining the cultural codes of the body, the computational potential of AI, and the cross-disciplinary fusion of sound, the piece initiates a contemporary cultural reinterpretation. It's a journey that starts from zero, using artistic experimentation to find a new relationship between the human body and technology. Within the audience's perception, it gradually evolves into a brand-new way of living and a new aesthetic.
